Germ City!

Today we also took a "field trip" to Germ City...don't worry we didn't leave the building! Amanda, the Intern for Nurse Shelley, set up a "Germ City" using materials from UVM's Extension program. The "city" was this tent (see below) with a black light inside. The students rubbed their hands with "germs" (lotion with a glow effect when lit by black lights). They walked through the tent to see the "germs" on our hands. Then we all washed our hands to get rid of the "germs". Once we washed our hands, we walked through "Germ City" again to see if we had properly washed. It was amazing to see the "germs" that were still left on our hands! This activity really showed us how well we need to wash our hands. Ask your children which song they should sing while washing their hands!
