MAKING OUR HOLIDAY ARRANGEMENTS!

WE ARE IN THE PAPER! CHECK US OUT!

PAJAMA DAY! THANKS FOR THE FOOD SHELF DONATIONS!

FINDING OUR MATH PARTNERS!

The other day we played a math game where each person either had a numeral card, tally mark card, or a ten-frame card.  After determining their number or total amount, they had to find their partners without talking!  They did a wonderful job and insisted on playing it over and over again!

Silently searching!

FORCE AND MOTION! WHICH BALL IS BETTER AT MOVING OBJECTS?

First we voted on the type of ball we thought would push the tractor the best.  Then, we made tally marks next to the ball we voted for.  The metal ball had the most votes and they justified their prediction by saying the metal ball was the heaviest so it would have more force.  Aren't they a smart group?!

We then tested the balls to see which would push the tractor the furthest.

Here are our recordings.  We recorded our results in our Science notebooks.  Above is an example.

Our Smartboard votes for the ball that we thought would move the tractor the best!
Our recordings of where the tractor ended up with each ball we rolled.

And below...what we noticed about our votes!

HOW CAN WE MAKE A BALL MOVE WITHOUT TOUCHING IT?

Trying with the smartboard pointer.

Blowing with a straw!

Does a marker work?

How about a pencil?

The calendar pointer worked well.

Blocks are good too!

IT'S A BOY! WELCOME TO OUR NEW CLASSMATE!

The kids were excited to make a huge poster to welcome our new classmate!

Our new friend is in the green and is fitting right in!

Some serious construction work!

USING "INVISIBLE FORCES" TO PAINT!

My scientists had an incredible time painting with the invisible force of air!  Their paintings were beautiful and made me think of infamous Rorschach tests.  Thank goodness all of the students remembered to blow out and not suck up through the straws!
