THE NATIVES ARE RESTLESS! NATIVE AMERICAN STUDIES!

The students were more than enthusiastic to model their Native American Headdresses they made!  Each child worked hard to make sure they had a pattern in their decorative designs.  Once they found out that feathers represented bravery, they loaded them on!  CUTE!

WRITER'S WORKSHOP VIDEOS! BE AMAZED...BE VERY AMAZED!

Here are two video clips of today's Writer's Workshop!  The students are so engaged and are working hard to write their stories.  After today's writing session, four students got to read their work to the class and we all sat quietly and listened to their stories!  It was amazing to witness!  Man do I LOVE teaching these kids!  (TEACHERS NOTE:  In the video I refer to the time as "Reader's Workshop" but I should have said, "Writer's Workshop".)

MAKING, BAKING, AND DECORATING OUR OWN CUPCAKES!

On the Friday before Halloween...just to make sure they had an extra dose of sugar before Trick or Treating, we baked and decorated cupcakes.  These cupcakes were for our other kindergarten friends as well as special people around the school.  My friend, Sharon, owner of Nate's Cupcakes, donated all of the supplies as well as her time to help "teach" the kids how to make cupcakes.  Everyone had a ball mixing the ingredients as well as decorating the cooled cupcakes.  Check out the process and masterpieces!  YUM!

 Sharon shows them the ingredients!
 Mixing it all up!

They even cracked eggs! There were only a couple shells in the batter!

Now the REALLY fun part...the decorating!
 I think that's enough!
Friends from Mrs. Johnson's class come over and choose their cupcakes!
They make their escape with the "goods"!
And now the chefs get to taste their masterpieces!
