TEXTING IN KINDERGARTEN??? WHAT? AND A DENTAL HYGIENIST VISITS!

TODAY WE LEARNED TO TEXT!  PSYCH!  ACTUALLY I MADE PRETEND IPADS AND IPHONE 5S AND THE KIDS TEXTED, THEN WROTE THEIR SIGHT WORDS!  FIRST THEY HAD TO TOUCH ALL THE LETTERS IN THE WORD, THEN THEY WROTE IT...AND OF COURSE THEY HAD TO PRESS "SEND".  IT WAS QUITE ADORABLE AND THEY WORKED DILIGENTLY ON THIS ACTIVITY.  THEY WERE SO EXCITED AND ENGAGED!  WOW, HOW TIMES HAVE CHANGED!
HERE IS A LIST OF THE SIGHT WORDS WE ARE WORKING/WORKED ON.  YOU CAN PRACTICE AT HOME TOO.  THE MORE THEY SEE THEM, THE BETTER!
(a, I, the, no, is, can, me, you, and, he, at, so, on, in, up, am, we, like, see, go, it, do, an, my, to, said, are)

THEN WE HAD THE TOOTH TUDOR COME IN AND TALK ABOUT TAKING GOOD CARE OF OUR TEETH!

MR. LASHER COMES AND PLAYS THE ABORIGINAL DIDGERIDOO!

NO!  IT'S NOT A GUITAR!

THAT'S BETTER!  MR. LASHER DOES A BETTER JOB PLAYING IT THEN I DO!

MEASURING WITH RULERS AND PRACTICING STRAIGHT LINES!

STUDENTS USED RULERS TO CONNECT THE BABY AUSTRALIAN ANIMALS WITH THEIR MUMMIES AND DADDIES.  THIS WAS GREAT PRACTICE USING RULERS FOR A MATH STATION.

FIRST STUDENTS TO EARN 50 STARS! WAY TO GO!

Happy Australia Day (a day late)!

Australia Day Cake (supposed to look like their flag).  The kids loved it!  Australia Day is much like our 4th of July.  It is the 26th of January, however we celebrated a day later.

Playing Australian Bingo!

Enjoying our Australian Cake!  Notice we are using our place"maps" too?

Ask your child what animal this is... (Echidna)

What is this?  (Croc)

How about this one?  (Dingo)
