Kindergarten Rock Band!

My classroom was given a can of "Tinker Toys" (remember these?) and they have been the biggest hit ever! Last week I was doing some assessments with students and happened to look up to see the scene above! I was amazed at how these students had organized themselves into a rock band, including instruments and a microphone! This is truly one of the most creative classes I have ever had. They make my day so much fun!

Gingerbread House Construction!

Today we made Gingerbread houses with our big buddies! The students worked hard to create cool candy houses. Believe it or not, we even got to eat a little bit of candy after we were done! Photos from top to bottom: Kayden and his buddy Brennen. Cody's Gingerbread house. Faith creating her candy house. Norah, proudly showing off her creation! Everyone had a great time!

Our St. Lucia Guest!

Eva's Grandmother (who is from Sweden) came to teach the kindergarten classes about St. Lucia Day. It is a special holiday, on December 13th, celebrated in Sweden. She brought cookies, clothing, and a Swedish flag to show us. She told us about the holiday and how the oldest daughter in the family gets to dress as St. Lucia. Here she is talking to our classes in Mrs. Johnson's room. The next picture is Chloe dressed in a traditional Swedish hat.

Teen Number Study!

Super Guys!

Super Girls!
Super Teen Team! We made "Super Head Bands" and we wear them when we are learning our teen numbers. We have played "Teen Bingo", "Teen Go-Fish", "Teen Memory", and practiced writing our teen numbers. Learning teen numbers can be very tricky so we work hard to understand that a teen number is "10 and some more". If we talk about 13, we say, "10-3, we call it 13. 10 and 3 more is 13".
