BIG BUDDIES COME TO WORK WITH US.

This past week we read books with our big buddies and made pictures using dialog bubbles and characters from the books. We had a lot of fun. The kids love having their 3/4 grade buddies visit! Thanks Mrs. Whitman's class!

MEASURING WITH STINKER LINKERS (UNIFIX CUBES)

Last week the students used unifix cubes to measure different objects around the room. Our three Buddy Helpers from Mr. Lasher's room helped us out.

The other day I came in with a bag of rocks that I had "collected". (see picture of rock pile) I acted very excited to show the students my rock collection, however as I was showing them, I told them that I had suddenly become very hungry. I then proceeded to put a "rock" in my mouth and eat it. (You should have seen their faces!) They were yelling, "NO!" and "Don't do it" as I gobbled the "rock" down. (as you probably have figured out by now, the rock was candy) After saying how yummy the rock was, I told them it was a chocolate rock. They all laughed and were quite relieved. Poor kids...I am always tricking them! Anyway, we did have a conversation about not eating real rocks; mostly the kids telling me I couldn't really eat rocks! Then we chowed down on the rocks and I told them to go home and tell their parents they ate rocks today! Gotta love the cheeky kindergarten teacher!

WORKING ON OUR "LAB" REPORTS!

This past week we worked on our lab reports (rock journals). The students drew observations of their rocks and compared and contrasted their favorite rocks with their partner's. They were excellent scientists, observing, recording, and understanding the "data" they collected. Check them out working hard on their books.
